Black-Hole or Bounce Unrouted Email
Your default (primary) email account is a catch-all email account. That means if you use your primary account username and password to set up your email in Outlook, Outlook Express, Communicator, Eudora, etc., you will receive ALL unrouted mail sent to your domain. An email address which has a separate account set up for it, or is used for an autoresponder or forwarder, is routed mail.
All other mail (heyyou@yourdomain.com or anybody@yourdomain.com etc. if they're not associated with other users, forwarders, or autoresponders) is considered unrouted mail and will automatically be sent to the primary catchall email account.
Getting all that unrouted mail can be a real pain now that every spammer in the world sends spam to "info@", "support@", "admin@", or any other common prefix @ every email address they can find.
To avoid that, set up a separate email account for yourself, using a prefix that is different from your default/username-based email account. If you use any other email addresses/prefixes (e.g. sales@, customerservice@, etc.) you can set up local forwarders from them to your new email account, unless of course they are already set to go to someone else in your organization.
You can then set all unrouted to be bounced (it just gets discarded into a virtual black hole and the person never knows if you got it or not), or Bounced (it gets sent back "undeliverable").
